WFN Teaching Centre and Mohamed V University Four-Year Residency Programme

The World Federation of Neurology (WFN) and the Department of Neurology of Mohamed V University, Rabat, Morocco are delighted to support the neurology residency full training of one trainee from sub-Saharan Africa.

Project description

Mohamed V University would like to support the African Initiative of the WFN by inviting a sub-Saharan African colleague to participate in a four-year full neurology residency training program. While training in neurology, the trainee will experience the modern Moroccan medical system in an international environment and meet new colleagues.

The Residency will cover some of the following topics: neurobiology and neuropharmacology, neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, and the diagnosis and management of all major neurologic diseases of the nervous system and much more.

Teaching will be conducted in French.

Timeframe

The WFN will offer a full training program in neurology for one French-speaking trainee from sub-Saharan Africa.

The four-year training program will be provided in French, at the Mohamed V University, Rabat starting in September 2024.

A yearly evaluation of the trainee’s progress will be made by Mohamed V University and reported to the WFN education committee.

Details about support

The Resident will receive the following support for the training period of 4 years:

  • Yearly reimbursement for one economy round-trip ticket from the Fellow’s country of residence to Rabat, Morocco.
  • Free accommodation at the University residence
  • A monthly allowance for living expenses (food and beverage).
  • Costs of health insurance and insurance for medical activity during the stay in Morocco (to be arranged by the host).
  • The amount of scholarship will be paid to the Moroccan Foundation Against Neurological Diseases which will reimburse the fellow’s expenses

 


Attention: Please note that support is provided for the visiting trainee only, and does not include family or dependents. The WFN is not responsible for financial issues other than related to the project.


Criteria for applications

  • In addition to graduation from a medical school, the applicant should preferably have completed at least one year of internal medicine (general medicine) training.
  • The applicant must be a resident of a low or lower-middle income country from the Sub-Saharan African continent.
  • The applicant must be born after 31.12.1981
  • The applicant must be fluent in French
